Blessings from my home

Blessings, dear ones!
I pray this finds you well! We are home from our vacation from Alaska and I'm glad to be home. What an amazing God we serve! He has created a beautiful world. How can it be denied that He exists and how can we doubt He created this by design? The beauty of His creation is beyond measure.
We came home to our baby chicks, the americana's growing out of their space. We moved them yesterday to their temporary space with the bantams. Not quite big enough to be moved in with the leghorns and rhode island reds.
Bill suprised me! He ordered me a new cell phone! I'm going to give up my hand held purse organizer and leave it to my new blackberry .. never will give up my homemaker's notebook though. I need to 'write things down' to help jog my memory :) I can't function without an organizer of some sort.. not with a family of 7! It's red :) My favorite color! yea!
The garden is taking off! We have lots of tomatoes coming along, the melon vines are going, the corn is getting big, the peppers are growing! Yea! I am going to start getting ready to can! yea!!! A stocked pantry!!! wooo whooo!
Well, I have lots of schooling to catch up on! Need to also catch up on my blog sisters! hugs to all!~!!

Monday already?

Monday, Monday :) And it's finally summer vacation! Now starts football practice already, summer youth activities at church and we're going on a cruise with dear friends! Yea! We are also schooling at home this summer with a pioneer theme.

Our trip to the Rodeo was a blast. We were decked out in our cowboy hats and jeans and hoop and hollaring at the riders and clowns. Lots of memories :) It is nice having a slower pace though. Got to admit, came at the right time :) And I'm feeling rather generous! I am in the mood to ....

HAVE MY FIRST GIVE-A-WAY!

Details tomorrow!

Be sure to come back and find out what you could win!!!

I wanted to share this from a friend :)

by Meriqua Whyte

Whenever we have experienced conflict in our marriage, it has been because either my husband or I, or both of us have started going contrary to the Word of God. In our case, most times, it is me going against the Word of God, and not my husband. When we go against the Word of God in any aspect of life, it brings about sorrow, conflict and discord, and it blocks God’s fullest blessings in our lives.

God is not too concerned about us using our talents in service for Him if we are not being obedient to Him in our home life. Notice with me what the great preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon said many years ago:

"God save us from wives who are angels in the street, saints in the church, and devils at home."

So how can I minimize conflict in my home and at the same time experience God’s fullest blessings in my life?

First, learn to have a soft answer. I know, I know - he provoked you to anger. So what! That does not give us the right to use grievous words. For, “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1) In my own marriage of eighteen years, I have seen where, whenever I have answered with a soft answer, the argument or fussing stops almost instantly. My husband, in response to my soft answer, has a softer tone as well. We are then able to talk it out instead of fussing it out.On the other hand, when my words have been cutting and sharp, coupled with a bad attitude, automatically my husband’s words become sharp.I can hear some of you saying, eighteen years of marriage and you still have not mastered the art of a soft answer to your husband? I must confess – No. Why? Because of this thing called flesh. My flesh is always rearing up its ugly self; always seeking its own fulfillment. Flesh does not want to die to itself. Flesh wants to be satisfied now and not tomorrow. So whenever I desire or strive to do right, evil (flesh or self) is right there. Yes, after eighteen years of marriage, I still have to daily pray earnestly to God for His help in this matter.

Secondly, not only must I have a soft answer, but I must also learn to control my tongue. (James 3:8) In other words, I do not always have to have the last word or reply to my husband once he tells me something. And even if I think I do have something to say, I do not always have to say it. The “I know, but…” has gotten me in a lot of trouble. In effect, what I am saying is, “I know but you are still wrong.” “I know but I still have to have the last word.” No, I do not have to have the last word. And neither do you. Why do we feel as though we always have to have the last word with our husbands? I think it’s pride and most times not wanting to admit that we are wrong that keeps us from shutting our mouths.

Ladies, let’s just keep our mouths closed. Let our husbands have the last word if they want to. When we push to have the last word, the Holy Spirit simply sits back and says, “Well, Madam, since you think you have it all together, and since you feel you can do my job better than I can as far as instructing your husband as to what to do, then I’m going to leave him and you alone, and let you mess it up.” And that is what we do, in effect – mess it up – royally. Come on. Let’s confess. I’ll start first. I have messed up many times with my “yes, but…” How about you?

Thirdly, to avoid sowing seeds of discord in my marriage, I must exercise a meek and quiet spirit (I Peter 3:4) – not a meek and quiet outward behavior, but a meek and quiet inner behavior. I am a pretty quiet person outwardly but at the same time my inner spirit can be kicking and bucking like a wild rebellious stallion. If you have been a Christian for any length of time, you know what submission is. Submission is a heart attitude. God, being the thorough God that He is, searches the heart or the hidden part of us. He tells us in first Peter chapter three that He places a high price on a meek and quiet spirit, for it shows true submission.

Fourthly, never lie to your husband. There is no feeling as terrible as the feeling of distrust. That is what happens when we lie to our spouse. You try to move forward, but distrust stands in the way. I have been there. I must confess. I have lied to my husband in the past about minor things. These “minor” lies have created a major problem. When you lie to your spouse, you break the trust. Never, never, never lie to your spouse about anything. It is not worth it. And if you are in a marriage where the trust has been broken or severed to some degree because of your lying, all you can do is ask God’s forgiveness and your husband’s forgiveness, pray and tell the truth from now on, then trust God that things will get better.

Lastly, let us seek peace and pursue it in our homes with our husbands. If your husband wants you to stay home even though you would rather go out with your girlfriend, then stay home. Give in. In other words, do as your husband wishes and exercise Titus 2:5: "To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." For indeed, we are blaspheming the Word of God when we are disobeying it. We are in effect saying, “God, your Word is not true.”In closing, Mr. Cleveland McDonald in his book, Creating A Successful Christian Marriage, said: “The Christian wife has a primary obligation to maintain a home that is distinctively Christian. She gives tender support and submission to her loving husband.”

Ladies, we can make an enormous contribution as to whether we have a peaceful home or not. I’ve seen these five principles work in my life. I encourage you to prayerfully apply them and watch God work to bring peace and harmony to your home.

Thursday Evening Ramblings

Good evening, dear ones :)

It's quiet here, we in the Adams Clan are slowing down. We got a lot of our goals accomplished for the day. My office is transforming rather quickly back into an office and a school room. Trenton is starting to ask if he too can homeschool. Please pray if this is God's will, it will proceed. I'm not sure about this one and not sure how Bill will react but if it is, that we would hear clearly.

I am now starting to look for curriculum ideas and a large dry erase board for the wall. I'm thinking unit study would be a good way to go. As with anything, all in good time.

As for life, if it is not one thing it's another. But I've learned, as soon as the first sight of trouble, praise the LORD. With the first sight of blessing, praise the LORD.

I pray,

In You, O LORD, I have taken refuge;
Let me never be ashamed.
In our rightesouness deliver me and rescure me;
Incline Your ear to me and save me.
Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come;
You have given commandment to sav eme,
For You are my rock and my fortress.
Psalm 71:1-3

What a joy and a hope it is to have Jesus as my Savior. To have life and life abundantly here and now. Not talking earthly riches but heaven's riches.. salvation, peace and joy in the journey of life. God is good and He's good all time :)

To be able to be a full time keeper at home is more then I could ever dream of being. To be able to watch Tara, dresed up as Saint Lucia and giving her report on the country of Sweden, listen to Trevor make his scrapbook of his DC Trip and watch Cody and Trenton put their own unique touches on the schoolroom is a blessing and gift from God all in itself. And an honor. A jewel. A price more valuable then rubies. To be able to be a part. A Gift.
A Simple Fruit Salad
Gather all your favorite summer fruits. Cut them up into bit sized pieces. We love grapes, apples, melons, raspberries, strawberries, kiwi and watermelons. Then add Strawberry or Mixed Berry yogurt. Chill.
God bless all who would read :-)

From ParentalRights.org

Ten things you need to know about the substance of the CRC:
• Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children..
• A murderer aged 17 years and 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.
• Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.
• The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent’s decision.
• A child’s “right to be heard” would allow him (or her) to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed..
• According to existing interpretation, it would be illegal for a nation to spend more on national defense than it does on children’s welfare.
• Children would acquire a legally enforceable right to leisure.
• Christian schools that refuse to teach "alternative worldviews" and teach that Christianity is the only true religion "fly in the face of article 29" of the treaty..
• Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC..
• Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent..

Tuesday Joys and Blessings

Dear ones, it is a glorious morning! A new day to celebrate our gracious and loving King!

We sure live in interesting times. Times that easily can bring fear. As we have been going thru Prov 31 together at http://worthmorethenrubies.blogspot.com/ I thought I'd share some here. We left off at verse 17.
It says..
She girds herself with strength., and strengthens her arms.
Are we women who are building our lives up in strength?
the word used is oz, owz or oze (fully) which reads.. strength in various applications (force, security, majesty, praise): boldness, loud, might, power, strength, strong. Are we becoming bold in our faith in Christ? Are we finding the true source of that strength? We must daily build ourselves up in the faith. We must gird ourselves with strength which only comes from a daily committment to Christ, our strength, our security, our might and power. He is . We must find our strength in the One Who is our strength. We must take time to be quiet at His feet to worship and soak up His presence. We must, like Mary of Bethany, find what is good. We find our strength at His feet.
Also, are we taking care of our bodies? Are we building our physical bodies in strength? We must take care of our earthly bodies. We can be women of strength with good God created food, plenty of water, excercise and rest! This is an area I struggle with myself But I am committing myself to new challenges and becoming a woman of health and strength so I can move on in strength and health :)
May God bless all who would read!

Happy Sunday

It's a gorgeous monring .. almost afternoon here in my neck of the woods :) I'm doing some research these days on homeschooling a dyslexic, severly ADD, learned disabled young boy.. my son. He is really struggling academically and emotionally at school. Looking into homeschooling or a new school situation. Thank God He gives wisdom liberally if I ask without doubting!

We found two more dead chickens :( We're down to four. We are going to do some work on the chicken coop this weekend. I'm so bummed!

I am getting ready to head off to church.. I'm the costume lady again for our musical so I need to pick out clothes to get them ready to go :)

Our garden is growing. Need to still tweek the watering system this year as it's not enough water. But our artichokes are producing! yea! And our tomatoes are taking and we have onions coming up and corn are starting to sprout ;)

Well I'm off but wanted to check in .. will post more later! God bless all who would read

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD;
O Lord, hear my voice
Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.
If you O LORD, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits.
and in His word I put my hope.
My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD is unfailing love and with him is full redemption. He himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Cleopatra, Buttons the 2nd and Beatrice

my new baby Americanas :)

Dear Ones, I just wanted to post a note telling you how precious you all are! I so love you! Thank you for being so gracious with me as I've been busier then usual. I'm loving being back to school full time .. even though at home, it is awesome for me :)

We have noticed the last couple of days that a fox is getting rather gusty and coming up to the fence of our chicken coop early in the morning before the dogs are out. The grass is taller and if you are not careful, you can't see him as he blends in .. he really is gorgeous. He is just beautiful! But he means my chicken babies harm. He is easily scared off...

sounds like the enemy of our souls huh? Deadly. Gorgeous. Tempting. Dangerous and cunning. Easily scared off... yes, I said easily scared off. With the Word of God. Our God has already won the battle ladies! He is triumphant over the enemy! But we can't get caught up in the.. oh, he's gorgeous. Oh, I'm stronger.. I can handle just one try at whatever he's tempting me with.... oh dear one, don't get caught up in the temptation of his tricks! He is the enemy of your soul. BUT We have a King. We have a way out of that trap. We must stay in prayer and in the Word.

Throw that stick of the Word at that fox and be done with him today and Let this be the day You say.. My God is enough!

hugs

Monday Joys and Mommy Ramblings :)

Good Monday Blessings, Dear Ones, I pray this finds you well! We had a busy busy weekend and it was wonderful! Saturday, we got a lot more plants in the ground. The beans, the cantelope, cucumbers, strawberries, bell peppers, jalepenos, cayenne peppers, red bell peppers, tiny peppers, and a couple of zuchini plants.

We have our first artichoke coming up!!! yea!!! It's gorgeous!

We are waiting still on the call from the feed store when they get their americanas in. It's been almost three weeks :(

We had church yesterday and our children's pastor was gone out of town so I was helping out all both services. We then went to a dear friends home, we all went to an open house for a dear lady from Bible Study and then went back to my dear friend's home for hamburgers. It was a blast!~

Kids are off to school and I am sitting down to do my schooling and then work on the teacher's quilt. Thinking of mac 'n cheese for dinner as it's chily here. It's cold. Praying I don't lose my plants!
Have been enjoying watching the boys play with their 'revolutionary' era type rubber band gun from vision forum and gonna watch the dvd on frontier skills this evening. Should be a hoot!

Bill and Trevor got to see the capitol building and just left the Supreme Court's Chamber.. They are having an amazing trip!

Hugs to all who would read!~

90 Days to the Woman God Wants us to be!

Dear Ones, you know I've been going thru the 90 Days Jumpstart to the Woman God wants me to be. It's a study based on Proverbs 31 :) It is wonderful! I'd like to share this with you!

Hey,
I just got an email from my friend, Donna Partow. She’s excited about a totally new approach to the Proverbs 31 passage. One that’s not a throw-back to the 1950s!!! (Nothing against Happy Days, but can’t we find a way to make the Bible relevant right NOW?)
She’s offering an online multi-media class, The 90-Day Jumpstart to a New You. It’s based on her latest book Becoming the Woman God Wants Me To Be: A 90-Day Guide to Living the Proverbs 31 Life.
I’ve decided to be become one of the very first members of her Exclusive Access Club and wanted to invite you to join me on this great adventure! I truly believe this is going to change my life. Can’t wait to get started on April 20th. But you have to register right away, so you can get your class materials on time.
Click the link below for more information.

Our Heritage

Thoughts from my desk,

Blessings, beloved sisters,

It's quiet around my home right now and I have been working on a word study on the words, heritage and reward. Specifically on the passage in Psalms 127:3 which reads,

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from Him.

Children are a heritage.. in the hebrew, the word is nahla.. it means.. inheritance. They are our inheritance. Also used for property, estate such as you would be given as an inheritance. They are precious. They are handed down gifts from above. They are jewels in our crowns as mothers and a reward given by the LORD. Precious. Jewels. Reward.. Sakar... reward, wages, money paid for hire.
What higher job do we have in life then to teach them Who Jesus is? What better reward for then to see them come to Jesus and repent and ask Him to be their own Lord and Savior? What higher calling is there? Then our children learn that they too are wonderfully and fearfully made. They learn what real self esteem is... to be called a redeemed child of God. That He gave up everything for their salvation..That they are treasures to Him. And what a legacy, what an inheritance to see them grow and serve the LORD on their own chosing. I know it is such a joy to see my children chosing on their own to serve at church with the giftings God has blessed them with. My mother once told me and it has stuck with me... How can she not serve the LORD when He has given her so much? She suffered from Multiple Schloris and taught almost every week for almost 50 years the 2's and 3's. With joy and sacrifice. What a legacy I was given! To see such love for Him in her life. I am teaching this truth into my children. That serving and giving back to the LORD with the fruit of my hands, every day, not just at church is an act of love and worship. Even scrubbing the bathrooms, caring for the laundry, taking out the trash, even the most mundane tasks can be a gift to Him.
As we set about serving our families today. May we remember that our children are a blessing, not a curse. That they are our inheritance. And serving them is a living legacy that they can 'catch' as we all know, truths are better caught then taught, that serving others is an act of love and worship..
I pray God will bless all who would read

The Food Police...

http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=12671

We must keep watch. Our liberties will be stripped away from us if we do not stand up and stand for the constitution. Our founding fathers knew what they were doing. Please get involved and keep your right to grow your own food!

Aprons

This came from Carrie at Hidden Creek Homestead

Apron's ~ Symbols of a Woman's Life

Aprons are a symbol of a woman’s life. They speak of home and duties that are housed there. They are reminiscent of days gone by, but speak volumes to the young daughter of her venture into true womanly servant hood. Aprons are a sign of service, diligence, perseverance, submission, home and hearth, modesty and of where your true heart lies.

Aprons have been used by many women before us from the Pioneer woman who struggled on the Prairie to the woman who lived through the Depression. Aprons fly in the face of feminism as they show headship to our husbands and fathers. The styles have changed over the years, but the message remains the same to the Christian woman who dons one in the morning before chores until she unties it’s strings after supper. When she hangs it upon its little nail she can think to herself, another day I have given you Lord, a day to my wonderful husband and my beautiful children.Whether they were used to protect the dress underneath, to hold some bounty of the harvest, dry off wet hands, wipe a baby’s nose, shoo the chickens from the garden, or hold a gathering of eggs it was always there to serve those wearing it. With its deep pockets to hold a thimble or a small child’s treasure you could be sure it was the happy housewife’s friend.

Aprons ring of simplicity!

And I'm slow to get up out of bed this morning. But here I am :) Bill is home, he didn't even work yesterday. That in itself is a miracle! That means God is still and always going before me. But you know, I learned something profound to me this week. Even if I am not living in God's favor, by that, when life is tough, when I am going thru a trial, that doesn't mean I am out of His love. I know that is simple but it blew me away this week. That His favor and Who He is are not the same thing. He loves me no matter what. That hit me like a ton of bricks :) So even though we are dealing with some pretty tough stuff lately, doens't change the fact He loves me. That has made such an impact on me. Silly I know for most but life changing for me. I'm not into the whole tickle my ears stuff but this was revolutionary to me :-)I am off this morning with my two daughters to see if we can't find some pretty things to wear tomorrow :) And grab some plastic eggs. We do the egg hunt after church and willd dye some when we get home today from shopping.I will send pics when I get a chance tonight!
tender hugs,

Worthy is the Lamb

Worth is the Lamb .. Lyrics

Thank you for the cross Lord
Thank you for the price You paid
Bearing all my sin and shame
In love You came
And gave amazing grace
Thank you for this love Lord
Thank you for your nail pierced hands
Washed me in Your cleansing flow
Now all I knowYour forgiveness and embrace
Worthy is the Lamb
eated on the throne
Crown You now with many crowns
You reign victorious
High and lifted up
Jesus Son of God
Darling of Heaven crucified
Worthy is the LambWorthy is the Lamb

Musings .....

It's rather late and I'm waiting of my beloved to come downstairs so we can watch Fireproof. I'm probably the only wife who has not seen this yet :)
I am blessed to have a wonderful husband. He works hard. He is a good father. I am blessed
I finished two out of three pairs of pants or pj pants for Trenton. He put them on when he got home from school.. too cute he is! Always a joy to make things when I know they will love them!
They have the same reaction to bread. I make two because they will eat the first one right out of the machine :) It's a good thing I love the smell of homemade bread! I'd rather have that smell then candles. I love the smells of food cooking
We got the new Rodney Atkins CD. Love the title Song, In America.. it's now my ring tone :) And I have roosters for the rest of the notifications.. voice mail, text.. etc.. it went off during bible study the other day.. you should have seen the faces.. LOL it was funny.. good thing I lead that table~!
Tomorrow has plans.. I will get out and plant the tomatoes and we lost the celery plants.. we have ground squirrels .. any ideas how to stop them? Can't shoot them all :)
well, I'm off to watch the movie, God bless

Thursday Ramblings

I have to say, God is so good! I am so undeserved of His grace and mercy but He is Who He is. He is love. He is justice. He is mercy. He is the Great I am Who is the Mountain from where my help comes from! He has proved Himself big and I'm overwelmed.

I have lots on my to do list today. I have gotten a head start. Bread is in the machine, laundry is started, kitchen is cleaned. I have studies to attend to and tomatoes to plant. Think I'll wait for the tomatoes til the kids are home. They like to plant with me.

I am grateful for new beginnings. New Starts. Fresh Renewels. That His mercies are new every morning :)

I am grateful for my family being healthy.

I am grateful for my church family. Treasures not to be taken lightly

I am grateful for a God Who cares about even the little stuff like to do lists and homework..

I am anxiously awaiting my package from vision forum to arrive. Maybe today or tomorrow. I ordered the package with books on making money from your homestead, frugal living, living a simpler life and dvd's on candle making, making soap and such. I can't wait!

I should get going on my sewing of Trent's pants. I need to get past the guilt of sewing. It's a love of mine and I tend to feel guilty when I should be sewing... silly I know...

I also have apron's I'm sewing and am thinking of giving an apron away as a blog give a way.. hmmmm.. reason to sew? I think so :0

Tender hugs to all who would read

Well, Friday is here and I'm tuckered out :)

I have to say, I'm tired :) I am just plain tuckered out :) But that is ok. It's ok to be tired if one has gotten a lot accomplished. But I still have a lot to get done. We have been preparing our garden. We still have more rows to get ready and seeded. Hopefully, that will be done this weekend. It's starting to warm up here so it's a good time. We have alots of plants growing and I need to get them moved into bigger pots before I can move them out to the garden. That is my goal for this weekend.

The Baby Chicks are getting big. The Leghorns are about ready to burst out of the crate so I need to get a bigger arrangement for them so the bantams can stay with them. The Leghorns have become attached and will mother them as like they were their babies. It is precious :) And I always miss it when they get old enough to move outside. They are in our rumpus room :) I love the sound of their chirping...

I am in the midst of reclaiming my home. And this is taking more time then I had anticipated. I will need to come up with new routines for my MIL to accomplish as I tackle the re-organization. And still work on my studies. Bill is sharing a sense of progress with the changes at the shops and that is exciting to me. To see God work if I will just get out of the way is awesome. That when we lift up our heads to the hills, from where our help comes from.. Our help come from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.. Psalm 121:1-2

I am also going thru and making a plan to restock my pantry. It is that time of year for me and for some reason, I find this part of life exciting. I love to fuss on my home and this is like setting up a new home.. God truly is good and He's good all the time

May God bless all who would read..

Easter for our Troops~

Dear Fellow Patriots,
As you and I plan our Easter egg hunts and Easter Brunch feasts with our families and worshipping at our churches and Synagogues, American troops are thousands of miles away from their loved ones fighting for our country. Our Troops don't ask for anything, but they appreciate everything we send to them.
"We have been receiving your boxes . . . that are truly a blessing to everyone here," wrote MSG Donika Nealy. "To know that someone is thinking of us is such a great feeling inside.

"This year, Move America Forward (http://www.moveamericaforward.org), with your help, will send care packages to our troops with special Easter goodies inside. You may sponsor these packages and write a personal note to the troops, who have left their homes to secure America's freedom and protect us from enemies who want to destroy our way of life.Introducing...To add a touch of Easter greetings, we have included items that will remind our troops of the holidays and make them feel right at home.
Our Easter Package comes with Jelly Belly Jelly Beans, a favorite Easter treat, and Gobstoppers Easter Egg jawbreakers. We also now have officially licensed NASCAR Bug Buttons that will not only repel pesky insects but also let our troops root for their favorite drivers!
And don't forget that our Easter care packages still come loaded with all the favorites that our troops appreciate from our previous other care packages, like Premium Gourmet Coffee and Genuine Oreo Cookies and thick meaty beef jerky!
Most importantly, as always, MAF Care Packages always include a personalized note from YOU! Our troops need to hear that you support them and their missions! Make sure to include your mailing address -- the troops love to write back!

Easter Care Packages include some or all of the following:
Gobstoppers Easter Egg Candy
Candy Diplomacy
Jelly Belly Jelly Beans
Boca Java or Cornerstone Gourmet Coffee
Oreo Sandwich Cookies
Painted Hills Premium Beef Jerky
Planters Trail Mix
Gatorade
Simple Green Hand Cleaner
Lip Balm
Deodorant
For The Troops CDs
Diana Nagy "The Journey of Life"
CDs
Postage and Shipping to Iraq/Afghanistan

A SPECIAL NOTE FROM YOU
During these tough economic times, families of troops are struggling to get by. I fear that they will have fewer resources to send packages to their loved ones in war zones. This is why it is so important for you and other patriotic Americans to send what we can to our troops. We must never let them forget that we are not only thankful for our families here at home, we are thankful for their selfless sacrifices for our great country.
Please click here to sponsor a care packages for our troops.Your contribution is tax deductible. Now is the time to act so we can get packages to our troops in time for Easter.

With respect and gratitude,

This has been a real wingdinger of a weekend :)

Well, it's official :) I'm tired and blessed. I went to an amazing women's retreat and am completely overjoyed. It was awesome! But I sure felt for Bill. He was home with sick kids and they kept getting sicker. Then they had a 4 H Skit and they did fine but didn't place .. that's ok. Got some good pictures!
Later Saturday night, while we were settling in for the night, Bill gave me the news. He's making some changes at the shop. I'm able to be a full time at home mom without working again! I can completely focus full time on the things of home once again! First time in four years :) I'm thrilled!
See I've been working for our family business as the bookkeeper for four years and Bill tells me I'm retired, I'm free again :)
Oh I'm going thru and going to start after I get the office boxed up to ship back to the shop.. gonna start on my kitchen! Get it organized again! yea!!! And get back into my garden :) We have some planted already and I have lots in potting.. seeds getting started that are not quite ready to go outside. I am planning on finally finishing up that quilt! And can you guess? I'm pretty excited!!!
well I'm tired.. Gonna go finish making dinner .. hugs!

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

I am still among the living, really I am :)

Boy, it's gorgeous out my window today! I am almost caught up on my tasks and then I get a whole new slew of them. But it is good to be busy :-) Can't say that I'm bored.. Tara's costume is almost done. Just need to sew the bottom hem. It came out pretty good..
We did get some seeds planted and then got a light frost last night. UGH.. oh wells. Hopefully it won't be too bad and we didn't get the plants in.. here in Cal, a frost is so mild that it probably did not do that much damage..
I'm excited that I am getting my textbooks today.. my first two courses are on the Synoptic Gospels.. and Prayer and Worship :) I'm so excited I could pinch myself :)
The kids have their first run thru of the skit tonight at our 4 H Community meeting. I have the tune, Are You Smarter then a 4 Her in my head... song to the tune of are you smarter then a fifth grader :) It's based on the show but theme is 4 H is Green.. recycle, reuses and reduce :)
Gals, something happned yesterday which has me very concerned. President Obama undid the freeze on embrionic stem cell research. Gals, we have to be on our knees!!! We are heading down a dangerous road as a country. We have to repent! We have to get on our knees before the LORD!!!
We must stay on our knees!!!
I hope you will join me! We must pray for revival and that starts with each one of us individually. We must humble ourselves and get on our knees. We must repent and turn from our wicked ways so He will hear us from Heaven. And heal our land. 2 Chron 7:14...
love you!

If all you can do is pray, ladies that is more then enough!!! Please please pray! The issue of same-sex marriage is back in the spot-light. The case goes before the state supreme court this week. The Bible is quite clear on this issue. Let us pray the will of the people stand from November's election. Here's more info from tonight's news http://www.ktvu.com/video/18840264/index.html

Thoughts on Prov 31, The Study Continues :)

Good Morning ;) Come and sit around my table this morning. I pray this finds you blessed and ready for the day! Sip some tea and walk thru Proverbs 31 with me.We are continuing our study and I am slowly going thru this passage and I am stuck. This is a continuance of our previous study on the Proverbs 31 Woman. So please bear with me :) I can't seem to get past these two verses.

She is like the merchant's ship;
she brings her merchandise from afar.
She rises also while it is yet night,
and gives food to her household
and work to her maids.
Proverbs 31:14,15

Here are some thoughts on how to's. How to become like the merchant ship. She works diligently to find the best for her allotted money. She finds the choicest meats and the prettiest fabrics and decorations that her budget allows. Now in this day and age, it sure seems like we have it easy. We have catalogs. We have online shops. We are near shops which are able to gather items from afar. But seems to me it is more then just merchandise. Here are a few how to's ..

  1. Start off with a heart of love for your position as wife and caretaker of your home. Have a love filled heart. It comes out in your decorating and care of your home. Don't be afraid to try new things. Read up on trends and ideas on home decoration. Doesn't necessarily require money. A lot of ideas come and can be implemented at a fraction of the cost if you are frugal and creative!

  2. Make home life a priority. Watch your schedule that you are not always away fromt he home and tasks and chores are not taken care of up to your standards or you are getting behind. This will relieve a lot of stress and worry.

  3. Find mentors. Find ladies who are of like minds and brainstorm! Find ladies that you admire their tastes and ask them to come up beside you and teach you new things. Always search out Godly women :)

  4. Focus on the basics
  • by taking care of yourself. Get plenty of rest. Eat nutrious meals and cut back on caffiene and sugar. These give momentary boosts but will lead to that drop in sugar levels and actually cause you to become less energetic :)

  • always keep up your time alone with the Lord. this is crucial for your health in all areas

How does She keep it all going?

She starts early. She rises while it is yet night. She heads directly into her prayer closet. She is a woman who fears the Lord and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all knowledge Proverbs 1:7a. She tends to her husband and children's needs.. she feeds their hearts, body and souls with good food and food of the Word. She writes the Word on the doorposts, on the walls and on their foreheads.. Deut 6.

She also has a plan of attack. She uses an organizational system . She hada plan of success, relaly. She had her focus on what counted. A Godly home. And she kept her home an dfamily in order. Now I'm not necessarily saying that if we have clutter, we are not Godly. But we should be striving to order as our God is a God of order and this also brings peace and lessens the daily stresses. And it all comes back to

  • Find time alone with God. Early in the Morning. Sing songs of praise. Get down and bow and worship at His feet. Give Him the first fruits of your day and see what can happen with Him in control!

  • Also, find time alone for you. Maybe just five minutes but don't feel guilty. Don't buy into the Mommy Martyr thing.. that disallows you time to think! It's all good

  • Always plan to be on time .. Keep track of your appointments. What works for me with children is plan to leave 15 minutes early so we actually leave on time :)
  • Write everthing appointment down. Keep track of your loose papers. And write them quickly into your calendar and that will keep stress at bay.

  • Use a menu plan. Use a Shopping list. This saves time and money. Do not go to the store each day. You will end up buying more then you intend and you probably will forget something.

I pray this blesses you and there is more to follow.. but I am stuck and this is where I am reading.. re reading.. re reading :)

God bless all who would read!

Monday Morning Blessings :)

Good Morning~I pray this finds you well! We are geared up for a new week and it's all good. It's a tad wet here still and it's good, We need the rain badly here in the west. I'm excited this morning We had a productive 4 H yesterday and the skit night meeting has moved to my home this wednesday as I our living room is not being used right now and we have the space for all the props and such for practice :-) And while we were making the props yesterday, our community leader who is also our poultry group leader announced she had some new babies hatched this last week... yea! We are getting 4 new chicks! they are blue and barred or red chochin bantams. These will be easier for Trent to show at fair :) I think we will stop getting more hens now though LOL I just so love my chickens. I'm hooked :)

It's pretty exciting these days at church. It's awesome to watch the church respond to our new Senior Pastor and hear his heart. He's been calling for a revival. He's been calling for a time to repent and be on our knees. It's been a real amazing time at our church :) I'm so grateful to be in a Bible teaching church :)

Today's Nugget

“Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.”- Proverbs 14:22

Gals, as you know, I've been reading this book by Donna Partow, 90 days to becomign the Woman God created me to be. It's a daily devotional on the Prov 31 woman. The Lord has been urging me to really strive to be more like that example and though I'm no where near where I should be, I know the Lord is working with me. I'm almost done with it, well half way and am going to re start it. I found a group on Facebook that she started and it has the videos which accompany the studyif you want to join me, I'm going thru it. I will set up a group specificallly for this study. It will be aptly named, Being the Woman God Created Me to Be :)

If you choose, you can join me by watching the videos on Facebook and go here... http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=39408383785 and join. It's free to sign up and the group is a wonderful way to catch up on the videos. This is a great devotional/study and I would encourage you to join!!!As for me, I do have my notebook set up. I have been tweeking it. The study suggests we keep a daily notebook for our daily tasks, prayers and spiritual growth, homemaking lists, etc. All in one binder. Similar to my homemaker's organizer on the from page of this site. So this was not hard for me to put together because if I dont' have it written down, I don't remember so I am glued and have been for years to an organizer. But now I'm tweeking it to keep up with all aspects of my life. Not just work (my bookkeeping for my dear husband). Not just homemaking. Not sure a prayer journal in another spot. They are being incorporated and it's a little freeing :) It's all free. It's about the little changes we make each day which add up to a new me.. becoming the Woman God Calls me to be. Like the prov 31 woman. Her traits. Her way of thinking... that is God centered and serving others.why don't you join me!!! You can join me on either network... http://www.allchristianmoms.com/ or http://www.acountrywoman.com/!

Sunday Afternoon Thoughts and Musings

Good Afternoon, Beloveds :) We are home from church. We had an amazing time :) it was a prayer and worship service with the emphasis on 2 Chron 7:15. It was a humbling, moving service. And I also got to re join helping in children's church after a time in the choir. It's nice ;) And it is really cool to see my chidlren following in the spirit of servanthood.. they too are helping with the tiny ones :)
Bill, Trev and Tay are out on their way to Lowe's and we are doing some honey do's today... this is actually relaxing for my dear husband so I won't gripe :)
It's rainy and we have a fire going .. it smells wonderful.
My seeds are starting to grow.. I have onions, cabbage, bell peppers, and celery all popping out of the soil.. so I'm gonna head upstairs and start the tomatoes and this week sometime, plant in the garden, the asparagus :)I hope to have a thriving garden again this year, Lord willing!
Tonight for dinner, we are having Trev's birthday dinner of choice so he choice Tator Tot Casserole and I baked him a cake :) Tay is going to make him brownies, and we will watch John Adams, the miniseries from HBO.. we are history buffs :)
I have narrowed my schooling choices down to two.. global univeristy or northwestern or northwestern theological seminary. I am excited :)
Our chickens are doing well. The older ones have completed their molts, all but two and the younger ones have merged nicely and all are laying every day.. so that's up to 9 each day. The week old babies are doing fabulously and I'm having to keep myself from getting just a few more..... I love my feathered babies!!! I even found a buyer for my eggs! That is beyond belief for me~~!~

I should mosey on over to my sewing table and finish up some ongoing projects..

tender hugs to all who would read :)Mrs A

Another Birthday Down...Another one to go :)

Good Morning beloved ones,

this has been a whirlwind of a couple of weeks. We went camping up in the California Redwoods and had a magnificant time. We saw God's creation in all it's glory. It went by too fast :) And we were able to get a good feel for the new trailer. It did fine in the rain. It rained a little bit then on Monday morning, we woke to a dusting of snow. It was gorgeous!

Monday was also T1's birthday. She is 19 now. We had a good time even on the drive back laughing and enjoying eachother's company. How God has blessed me with a family that is healthy and all love the Lord Jesus is beyond my understanding. How gracious is our God.

Wednesday was T3's birthday. She is 12. She is my strong and courageous one. She is one who loves to try new things. She is a leader by nature. And she is my cowgirl at heart..

Today is my oldest son's, T2's birthday. He's 15. I can't believe they are growing up so fast! He is my strong and wise beyond his years child. He is very black and white, a student of the military and dreams of going into the Navy. He is in the Naval Sea Cadet program and is my rough and tumble football player. He shares his birthday with Abraham Lincoln and the similiarities are many :-0

I am blessed to be their mom. Happy Birthday my beloveds!

The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. Prov 31:11-12

To refreash your memory, here's tthe 30 day challenge.. for the next 30 days, You can't say anything negative about your husband.. to your husband or to anyone else.. about your husband.
Say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband..to your husband and to someone else, about your husband!

To help you get started, have you ever thanked your husband for choosing you above all other women? He found you attractive as a person, and appreciated you. Though many circumstances in your marriage may have changed, let your husband knwo that you are glad God led you together, and that you want to be a blessing to him for the rest of your marriage. Let him know that he can trust you to be in his corner.

One of the best opportunities to express yoru gratitude is first thing in the morning. How do you greet your husband each morning? Is he confident in your love? Give him a wake up call that he'll never forget .. a big I love you and an I'm so glad I'm your wife!

Wednesday Thoughts ;)

Blessings, Beloved Sisters! I pray this finds you blessed and filled with hope and joy this good day! Can you even begin to imagine how blessed we are? We just witnessed what we witness every four years. A peaceful transition of power. How awesome is that? I do not know about you, but I've taken that for granted. But look around the world. That is not to be taken for granted. It truly is a miracle. Praise God for His care :) Please be in prayer for our new President. I'm not a President Obama Supporter or his policies he tells about BUT the Word still calls my to pray for him. I will pray for wisdom, continued health, safety, that he will have godly men and women around him. That he prospers in his heart, soul and all areas. I pray for God's hand to be upon him. And I praise God that He is always on the Throne and He is soveriegn. We serve an awesome God :)

I have a rogue chicken. She is probably my favorite. She is an americana and has a bit of an attitude yet will come to me if she feels she needs 'saving'. She is just hilarious. She's the smallest of the bunch.. the others being RIRs and Red Stars.. but she rules the roost ;) We clip their wings so they can't jump out of their chicken run. She still does. She learned to jump when she was tiny and she can still jump from the ground and get out into the yard. I just can't get mad at her.. she's such a hoot!

We had a really good meal last night. I took out my homemade spaghetti sauce with hamburger and sausage, thawed it. Layered it on the bottom of a buttered baking dish, layered, cooked noodles, layered 1 cup cream cheese, 1 cup sour cream and 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, mixed and topepd with shredded cheddar cheese. Cooked for about 1/2 hour at 350 :-) It was so good! Probably could have used though some horseradish :)

Have you noticed

How Good God Is? In this time of uncertainity. Where we are losing jobs as a country left and right, God still gives peace. Listening to the radio this morning, listening to the stocks and such falling and prices rising... this could seriously be a time to dread. But I believe God can use all things for our good..

Just a word of encouragement. The Word says...

Rejoice in the Lord always:again, I will say Rejoice. Let our reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard yoru hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Phil. 4:4-7

and you want to know how to push away those scary negative thoughts? Finally, borhters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worhty of praise, think about these things. Phil 4:8

Around my house today

I'm getting a lot done on the books for my beloved husband. It is gorgeous outside, sun is shining, the chicks are happy, the rabbits are growing and we have a full refrigerator with food cooked for a month :-) God provides even in the worst of times. He is always faithful. I pray you know this deep in your heart even when things of this world fall apart!

Here's a yummy from my kitchen

Crock Pot Meatloaf

2 1/2 lbs ground lean hambuger
2/3 cup milk- I used 1%, you can use heavier milks
2 eggs
1/4 c fine chopped onion or 1/2t onion powder
1 c. bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
1t. sea salt
1t. season salt
Mix the above in a bowl, the shape it into a loaf, set inside a crockpot. Then pat it down a small bit- leave in a loaf shape. Cook on low for 6 hours. Serve with potatoes, salad and HM bread.
After the meatloaf is done, you can fix a tomato sauce to go on top. I don't because dh want to put bbq sauce on his. MIL puts a can of whole tomatoes on hers while the meatloaf cooks.

A Word of Encouragement For the New Year

Are you going thru a tough time? Give it to God. Are you struggling with pain and difficulites? He is strong enough to handle it. Are you fearful? He is stronger then anything that can harm you. Give it all to God. Let Him be God. Because He is good and He's good all the time. His Word says so.

Are you dealing with overwelming conflict? Let God handle it. Let Him smooth the rough edges of your heart and allow restoration to take place. Pray for Peace. He is the Prince of Peace and He can bring healing to any situation!

Now the Lord didn't promise a life without trials and tribulations. We tend to learn much thru trial and error :/ We can be like lambs gone astray. He also said that in this world would be troubles and pain but He has overcome the World. He said our life would not be pain free but He would walk with us. But let's be honest. Some of our troubles are not just because we are living in a fallen world. Some of it is brought on by our own sin and our own doing. Sometimes we have to deal with the consequences of our own rebellion or our own sinful desires. But He said He would not leave us nor forsake us. And He is faithful and Just to forgive us from all unrighteousness!

Recipe for a good life. Know Jesus. Know Him.. not just a head knowledge but dig into His Word! And seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matt 6:33
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. Col 3:1,2

Put Him first in your life and find that He truly is life and life more abundant!

Prov 31 .. The Word

Ladies, please forgive me as I haven’t posted in our Prov 31 woman study .. Here are some thoughts I’m running thru my head

I have to admit, this next section of verses is tough for me. Cause I am so not here and living this part of it at all ..

She seeks wool and flax, and works with willing hands,
She is like the ships of the merchant; She brings food from afar
She rises while it is yet nightAnd provides food for her household
And portions for her maidens.
Prov 31:13-15

Ok gals, I am not a morning person. I try. I set my calendar for 5 am and even my alarm and I listen to it til 6.. then I have to get up and get the kids up while I’m still in my pj’s cause they are out of here at 6:50 to go to school.. I need accountability to get up when I need to...

how’s our heart? How’s our attitude? Am I working with willing hands and heart? Or am I grumbling and complaining? Am I doing all things as unto the Lord or nit picking at every little thing? Am I holding onto my emotions and not letting them go awry or am I a mess and make everyone around me a miserable?Ok, am I getting up and making sure there is healthy meals on the table for my family to get a good start of each day that He has given us? Or am I playing catch up and giving them food to eat in the car on the way out? Am I prepared to meet each day’s challenges or are they meeting me surprised?

Ok gals, let’s start being prepared. Do you use some kind of organizational tool? Thought about a homemaker’s organizer? I have one that I made and use.. I am still tweeking it .. I used to buy one and then change it but now I am making my own. I have it at www.acountrywoman.com if you want to use it, let me know if you can upload it. And I am still changing some of the pages.. the today’s to do’s is going today a little bit. If you can’t upload it, let me know, I can maybe upload them to the email groups page.. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Prov31Keepers and will upload it to the files section Free is always better See, I’m a to do list kind of person. But I have to be careful or my devotions become a to do list item and then it loses it’s passionate purpose. So I don’t put it on there.. but I do it.. for me, it keeps me from becoming legalistic. I can easily get legalistic and then ignore God’s grace that I can not earn His grace and lose the whole thing…so I don’t put my TAG .. Time alone with God on my to do list Btw, have you set up your own personal TAG? What better way to start off the new year? I don’t believe God requires it first in the morning BUT I know my day is better when I start with prayer. I tend to study myself at night as I am clearer in mind but I read and pray in the morning. This keeps me focused and not sidetracked in my heart.. and I remember to keep Him first.I want to be known as a s hip of the merchant. That I work with willing hands. That I am strong. Virtuous, Mighty in Him. That He lives in me, makes me mighty and strong. That I am not week but I am a passionate housewife. I am desperate for Him.. that makes me strong.
How are you living out this passage?

Christmas Ramblings

We are home and enjoying a day together. Tara and I are making the jars.. and we had to go get more supplies as we are running out.. and making more then we planned... as well as enjoyed a trip to the feed store :)

Our chickens are getting to know eachother nicely.. but I'm not quite ready to have them merge together without the fence inbetween them. I so love having chickens :-) They are such fun .. excpet for Ethel of Ethel and Lucy fame.. she is going thru a molt and she does not want to be picked up like she usually does. Buttons is regaining her feathers back from her bout with mites and she's looking pretty healthy again.

We have a daily visitor now.. we have foxes in the meadow behind us and we have one that is a regular visitor. He is gorgeous. He is absolutely gorgeous. He just sits and stares at my feathered babies. But my dogs have discovered him so he stays away.. a safe distance... He just sits patiently....

I found some toys on the john deere website for T4. He's so enthralled with tractors and it is a john deere themed Christmas this year for him. Ornaments, little tractors, hats, etc.. I found a barn to go with it... too cute for words..

Here's a fun recipe I found again in the Cowboy's Cookbook by Ken Beck and Jim Clark

Rusty's Pork Chops

4 medium pork chops

1 16 ounce elbow macaroni, cooked

1 8 ounce pacakge velveeta cheese

1 cup milk

1 can cream of mushroom soup

2 soup cans watergrated cheese

Preheat the oven to 350 degress. Brown pork chops and pour off grease, set aside. Chop velveeta cheese loaf into small pieces, set aside
Combine milk, soup, and water. Mix together and add cheese.
Layer 2 chops and half of the macaroni into a greased casserole dish.
Top with half of the white sause.
Repeat with another casserole dish.
Bake for 1 hour. Season to taste. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.

Makes 2 casseroles

God Bless!

Blessings, Dear Ones :-)

It's chilly outside my window this morning. Some frost on the hills and the sun is just coming up over the hills. My middle son is checking on the animals and my other four lambs, are off to school and work. We are preparing for a busy and rushed week.. starting tonight. We have three nights of final rehearsals and performances starting on Sunday running thru Wednesday. This is a family tradition and I don't think it would feel like Christmas if we were not involved in some way. To be able to be a part of something which exalts Christ and brings people to the cross while celebrating His birth.. brings it all in perspective for me :)

I want to applaud you all. I love my blogger sisters :) You inspire me to keep up doing good. Not to grow weary in doing good. To remember the big goals..exalting Christ in my life while loving and serving others.

I am almost finished with the costumes! They are coming out adorable! I will see if I can't figure out my phone to send a picture :) I just need to finish up the bonnets and cut out the vinyl for the blacksmith apron.

I am finidng thru difficulty how gracious God truly is. How undeserved and beyond man's comprehension was the gift of His Son to redeem us back from the pit. I'm praying we all find a renewed committment to the Giver of the Greatest Gift of all.. our Salvation thru Jesus Christ, the Messiah!

This Week was a Blur :-)

Saturday Blessings!

I can't believe this week is already over! It has gone by as a flash.. as a blur :) T3 was a lead in her school's Christmas pagent, we had a City tree lighting which T1 sang for on the same night and we had end of year football parties for T2. Along with Ortho appt's and work projects to catch up on it's been a blur. Thank God it's busy!

I am so excited! Our youngest batch of chickens has started laying eggs! We haven't caught which one or ones as it happens before we check them in the morning.. it's still barely light when we find it ;) Our older hens are going thru their first molt and man, they are not happy :( We are putting up some temporary fencing to start the 'meeting' process and allow them to adjust to eachother and hopefully we'll be able to merge the flocks soon

I am so excited that I was able to get a new Bible! It is a ESV Study Bible and I love the smell of a new bible :)

Monday Morning Ramblings :-)

Good Morning, Beloved Sisters!

We are back home from a trip to my parents to visit with them and my brother and family. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving as well as a celebration of their 60th wedding anniversary. It was a time to remember for sure. God's mercy is new and He is faithful beyond comprehension. I'm home working and trying to catch up on five days of not working :) Laundry has pilled up, grocery shopping and well, just life ;)

We did have a bummer, a hawk got one of our original hens, Blossom. After some tears, we burried her and picked up all the feathers. Checked on the others and decided to buck up and make it a teaching experience..

I am still sewing. Finishing up Taylor's Costume. I found some gorgeous red calico to make her 1890's style pioneer dress for the Christmas program and stretching myself. I'm a quilter by nature, tucks and taylored clothes are not my specialty. Seems one can teach an old hen something new ;)

I am inventorying as well all the mason jars with lids as we are making gifts in a jar..here's the recipe for our first bunch

Mocha Fireside Coffee Mix

1 2/3 C powdered coffee creamer

1 1/2 C instant hot cocoa mix

2/3 C instant coffee granuales

1/2 C powdered chocolate flavored drink mix

2 Tbl plus 2 tsp sugar

1 1/4 tsp pllus 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp plus 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

In a large blowl, combine the above ingredients and stir until the mixture is well blended. Place mix in wide mouth 1 qt canning jar.

to serve:1 tbl fireside coffee mix6 oz boiling waterwhipped cream and saved chocolate, optional mix ingredients and enjoy!

God bless!

It's Beautiful!

It's beautiful here today! It's supposed to actually get warm this weekend! I was blessed to have had Bible Study today and it's always such a joy. I have some real blessings in the ladies who I open the Word with :) If you have a chance to study the Word with a sister, take it! It's worth it!

In this day and age of anxiety of the economy and political strife, I'd like to tell you this..

my brethren, county it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be pefrect and entire, wanting nothing. If anyone of you lack wisdom let him ask God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:2-8

Gals, let us ask Him for wisdom. Let us know that all that comes will bring us patience.. it will be for our good and He should be exalted. We will need wisdom in this day and age and let us ask freely and without doubting. God said so in His Word and He will not lie. He will give to us liberally. Let us not doubt!

In our Proverbs 31 Study, I'm kind of stuck. I'm stuck on 31:11

Her Contribution to the home... in reference to "he will have no lack of gain".. Let's talk about building our nest egg.

Here are some ideas... just to start

  • Tithe! It is better to live on 90% and give God His 10% then to live on 100% of ours. There is blessing in giving!

  • Keep track of our expenses. Write down each penny spent. Know where it all goes! Keep a money diary for a month and see where everything is going! Give every dollar a name. No dollar goes unnoticed.

  • Cut back on spending. Do you really need that many of everything? Keep a price list when shopping and know when the sales are.

  • When Grocery Shopping, stick the the outside isles of the stores and stay away from convience foods. Make it from scratch and make ahead meals. Always have a plan and a menu.

  • Shop no more then once a week. And don't shop hungry :)

  • Learn to re use and pass down.

  • Learn to do without brand names and designer items.

  • Shop wisely. Never ever pay full price if you can avoid it. Never by a car new. Car payments are not a good idea. Avoid financing anything. it is better. The Bible says the debtor is slave to the lender.

  • Get rid of the credit cards! It is never cheaper to pay interest on anything! And one tends to spend more on credit then we would if we paid cash.

  • Have a six month emergency fund saved up. First goal, 1000 in savings if you can. Then tackle each bill one by one by the smallest til they are gone!

  • Live debt free!

  • If possible, work from home or run your own business.

  • Learn to stretch a meal. Freeze meals ahead of times for busy schedules.

We are diligent in the household management. We are always learning to fine tune our homemaking skills. And we are on top of our money management. We are not out spending the fruits of our labors on frivalous trinkets but we are investing in our future :-)

We are good at time management. We are not wasting away the hours but we are getting alot done. We set our to do lists the night before and getting up early to spend time alone with the Lord. We greet our chidlren as they stumble out of bed to start the day and we have a peaceful home when our husbands come home.

We are also growing in emotional stability. We are not easily frustrated nor are we easily angered. We do not get riled up over what others say but we trust solely in what the Word says of us. We are strong and virtuous. We are lovely and wise.

I pray this finds you well and blessed. Til we chat again Beloved Sisters :)

Chickens Running A Muck....

Good Morning, Beloved Sisters :)

it's a quiet morning here at my desk. As I look outside, I can't help but be grateful for blessings big and small. My littlest one, who went to work with Daddy yesterday is sitting at his desk, doing 'his work' and he finds a cricket on the wall. He says he hates crickets and then gets a twinkle in his eye and asks if the chickens like crickets.. he musters his will and catches it and takes it to his beloved chickens and laughs.. these are the babies who are not with the older hens yet. As we watch them chatter and chase it, we notice all the older hens have escaped their coop and enjoying themselves on the grass :) They hear me calling and they come running. Do your chickens do this? I just think they are adorable! I don't have the heart to put them away yet so they will hang out while the coop gets cleaned :)

We're preparing for rain today. That's a good thing. We need the rain.. but do you see a storm coming in the future? We do. With all the reports of unemployment, financial crisis, political unrest and moral decay of our nation, it could be very rocky ahead. But Who is greater then even the greatest storm? Who walks on water? Who can calm the storm by His Word? Do you know the Source of the peace in the midst of the storm? Call out the name of Jesus and find that peace that surpass all understanding. Find the only hope we have in life. True hope. One that is lasting. Find Jesus and find peace ;)
As for our country... the Word says.. I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savour; Who will h ave all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 1 Timothy 2:1-6

May God bless all who would read :)

Friday Blessings at our Home

Blessings! We had a great day yesterday :-) We had our first 4-H Poultry Meeting. All are doing chickens. It was such fun! Started last year with four members and is up to 23 members this year! Go Crane Ridge 4-H! Such fun! I have to be honest, I LOVE CHICKENS! I just love them and I adore baby chicks! I have to be careful NOT to get anymore :) Hold me to this, k? We already have 10 feathered babies and that is enough for us right now :)
Today we have food preservation and that should be fun. Same leader as last year and they are sweet people. They are also in our rabbit project and we are becoming friendly. 4-H has allowed us to become acquainted with more families of like minds in our area and that has been such fun!
Tara, Trevor and Trenton has no school yesterday and today for parent/teacher conferences. It's been nice. Their schooling is going well and I'm excited about that. Tara is coming alive and the Lord is doing a good work in her life and Trenton is growing fast and learning well. He is making up for the time he lost at his previous school. Cody has some awesome teachers this year as well and he doens't have days off til next week. It's all good.
Today we are having a Tri Tip Roast with red potatoes and asparagus.
as for sewing, I need to go back to the fabric shop and get somemore fabric for Taylor's Costume :0 Life is just rough :)
well, I'll post more later! God bless all who would read :)
